Home Health Aide Program/Catalog

PROGRAM TYPE

  • CHHA Hybrid Training (Online/In-Person Skill training): 76 Hours of training 

  • CNA bridge to CHHA: 10 Hours of training

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA) is certified by the New Jersey Board of Nursing. Both the 76-hour course module and a 10-hour module opened to NJ Certified Nurse Aide only*, prepare the individual for providing care in home settings under the supervision of a registered professional nurse. The CHHA performs tasks which are delegated consistent with provisions of N.J.A.C. 13:37-6.2. Duties include providing personal care and homemaking services essential to patient’s healthcare and comfort at home including shopping, errands, laundry, meal-planning, and preparation including therapeutic diets, serving meals, and assisting the patient with activities of daily living (mobility, transferring, walking, grooming, bathing, dressing, toileting). Note -The CHHA should not administer medication.​

CLASS HOURS

Training is mainly Online. Link to training program will be available to registered students 48 hours before program starts

There will be 2 full days of Skills Lab Training. This will be in House at our training facility totaling 16 hours

REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

  • You will need a computer with access to the internet for the first 60 hours of the training course (CHHA Online Training).

  • All applicants must be 18 years of age or older.

  • All applicants must have a minimum of high school Diploma.

  • You must have an active NJ Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license to take the conversion course. (CNA Conversion to CHHA only)

  • All applicants must be either U.S. citizens or legal aliens qualified to work in the U.S.

  • All applicants must have the ability to read, write and speak English proficiently.

  • All applicants must be physically capable of participating in class work such as lifting, transferring patients out of bed, giving bed baths, aiding transfers for those with limited mobility, and other patient-related care  

  • The NJ Board of Nursing requires that all applicants be current on child support obligations, not be in default of student loans, and not be convicted of any “Disqualify Crimes”                                                                            

  • The NJ Board of Nursing requires that all applicants pass a criminal background check and be fingerprinted as a part of the application process.

ADMISSION FEES

  • Registration Fee (Non-Refundable) $ 50.00

  • CHHA Hybrid (Online/ In-Person Program): $ 1995.00

  • CHHA Reinstatement License: $750

  • CNA Bridge Program: $ 500.00

All HHA applicants are required to pay an additional $65 processing fee for the HHA certification application to the NJ Board of Nursing, please note this fee is NOT included in your tuition. This fee is paid directly to the State of NJ at the time your application is submitted. This is for the certification and background check application and is not refundable. This fee must be paid by credit card or debit card to the Board of Nursing

REFUND / DROP CLASS POLICY

Withdrawals for Certified Nurse Aide and Certified Homemaker/Home Health Aide must be made

at least 14 days prior to the start date of class to be eligible for a refund. A student is not eligible for

a refund after this time period has elapsed. A full refund minus the $50.00 registration fee will be made

to the student provided the student adheres to these guidelines. A refund request form must be submitted. No refund requests will be honored beginning 24 hours prior to the first class.

PAYMENT DETAIL

  • Full payment at the time of signing the enrollment agreement.

  • Registration fee at the time of signing the enrollment agreement with the balance paid prior to the program start date.

  • Full balance payment before the start date.

CREDENTIAL AWARDED

Upon satisfactory completion of the program, the student will receive a diploma and may apply for NJ State certification
